How does it work?
Your terminal has EFTPOS, Medicare Easyclaim, and HealthPoint functionality running side by side. Patients can take advantage of their Medicare card using Easyclaim and can benefit from their private health fund membership using HealthPoint.#
- After providing the service, swipe the patient's health fund card.
- Follow the prompts to submit the claim and obtain signatures on receipts.
- The provider will be paid the rebate amount by HealthPoint or directly by the health fund.
- The gap amount can be paid by the patient on the spot using cash, EFTPOS or later with an invoice.
- The patient visits the doctor and evidences their right to the bulk bill benefit.
- The practice submits the bulk bill claim to the EFTPOS hub.
- The EFTPOS hub transmits this information to Medicare.
- Medicare responds via the EFTPOS hub.
- The practice, at the terminal, checks the response.
- This is communicated again with Medicare, who then pays the provider by EFTPOS to their bank account.
- The patient visits the doctor, evidencing their Medicare eligibility.
- The surgery submits a real-time patient claim to the EFTPOS hub.
- The EFTPOS hub transmits this information to Medicare.
- Medicare receives the claim, verifies patient entitlement, and authorises payment.
- Medicare responds via EFTPOS hub, to the practice.
- Patient swipes bank card through practice EFTPOS terminal and enters pin.
- The acquiring bank pays the patient’s rebate to their bank via EFTPOS.
