Confirmation of Payee
Giving you more confidence your payment is going where you intend it to
What is Confirmation of Payee?
Confirmation of Payee is an industry-wide service that provides a new layer of protection against scams and mistaken payments.
It’s now available in the Suncorp Bank App and Internet Banking. There’s no registration or activation required.
When you initiate a payment to a payee using a BSB and account number, Confirmation of Payee matches the bank account details you’ve entered, including the account name, with the details held by the recipient’s bank.
It then displays a match outcome.
There are four potential match outcomes
Each match outcome gives you a chance to make an informed decision about what action to take next. You can proceed with the payment, check the details again or choose not to proceed.
Why have Australia’s financial institutions launched Confirmation of Payee?
Confirmation of Payee helps you be more confident that the payment you’re making is going to the person or business you intended to pay.
It's one more way Australia’s banks are working to safeguard customers from fraud, scams and mistaken payments – and helping make online banking safer for everyone.

You may be able to find your bank statements in the Suncorp Bank App or in Internet Banking.
Payments can still be made after a ‘no match’ or ‘close match’ outcome – so long as the payer is confident the details are correct. Please ensure you provide payers with the correct account details, as it may not be possible to recover funds paid to an incorrect account.

Names with special characters, like full stops (.), commas (,) or ampersands (&), will still match without being entered.
For example, when entering an account name with an ampersand (&) such as Paper & Pen, it can be entered as Paper Pen.
If you’ve formally changed your name, for example because of marriage or divorce, you can change the name your bank account is held in. Find out more about the documentation and process required for an account name change.
If your account name is not appearing correctly in your statements (for example, if your name is misspelled), please contact us or visit your local branch.
