Support available for Suncorp Bank customers affected by Tropical Cyclone Narelle

5 min read

With Tropical Cyclone Narelle moving across the far north Queensland and Northern Territory coastlines, Suncorp Bank has activated its disaster relief packages for personal and business customers.

Suncorp Bank CEO, Bruce Rush, said the bank is here to support customers and communities in the moments when they need it most.

“Australia’s northern regions have endured a challenging wet season, with a series of weather events causing widespread damage across several communities.”

“We want customers impacted by Tropical Cyclone Narelle, in far north Queensland and the Northern Territory, to know that Suncorp Bank is here to support them,” said Mr Rush.

“We are closely monitoring the situation as it develops to ensure our response continues to meet our customer needs.”

“With the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Narelle continuing to be felt over the following days, we urge everyone to stay informed and follow the advice of emergency services and first responders.”

The Suncorp Bank disaster relief packages can include:

  • The opportunity to defer scheduled loan repayments for an agreed period.

  • Variation of existing loans (for example conversion from principal and interest to interest only payments).

  • Waiver of early withdrawal interest adjustments for the early withdrawal of term deposits.

  • Debt consolidation to help make repayments more manageable.

  • Short-term working capital (for example temporary overdraft).

  • Additional finance to assist with cash flow shortages.

“Our thoughts are with our customers and the far north Queensland and Northern Territory communities at this time,” said Mr Rush.
