We are committed to helping you (subject to your agreement) with any financial obligations you may have with us if:

  • you have lost your job, or have experienced a material adverse change in your employment or business operations;
  • you have an unexpected illness;
  • you are behind in your loan / credit card repayments;
  • you think that you might be unable to make your repayments in the future due to some event.

At Suncorp Bank we understand that life can throw you a curve ball that you just weren't prepared for. When this happens, it is important to stay in contact with us so that we can make you aware of all the options available to you.

Suncorp Bank offers a number of options to customers whose circumstances temporarily prevent them from making their minimum repayments on their loans and credit cards. Solutions offered to you will differ depending on your circumstances.

Everyone is different and because of this, we will assess your situation on a case by case basis.

How to apply for financial hardship

So we can assist you, we need to understand your current financial position...

It will assist us in assessing your individual case if you can provide the following:

  • Copies of your last 3 pay slips (if currently employed)
  • Copies of your current loan, credit card, or retail outlet statements for those facilities that you hold with other institutions
  • Business and farming customers
    • An aged listing for debtors and creditors
    • Last full 12 months financial year financials (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet)
    • Latest available internal management accounts
    • Details of any repayment arrangements entered into with suppliers or customers
    • Confirmation of current tax liabilities and payments
    • Confirm all business owners, guarantors and other parties to the loan/s have signed the application for financial assistance

Accessing Financial Counselling Services

Financial counselling services help people who are in financial difficulty. They are available in every state and territory and provide a free, independent and confidential service. They can help you manage a short-term crisis and plan to prevent a future one.

Our Commitment To You

Suncorp Bank have introduced a number of steps to ensure that those customers who find themselves in financial difficulty receive the right support.

  • With your agreement, we will try to help you overcome your financial difficulties with the credit facility you have with us. We will deal with you or, at your request, with your financial counsellor or authorised representative.
  • If, at the time, the hardship provisions of state or federal legislation could apply to your circumstances, we will inform you about them.
  • We will respond promptly, courteously and sympathetically to any requests for assistance from you.
  • We will take into account the information available to us, including the information you provide to us, about your financial situation to determine the assistance we can provide to you.
  • We will always inform you of our decision and the reasons for our decisions, as well as the agreed arrangements for any assistance we provide you.
  • We will not commence or take any further step in any proceeding in relation to the credit facility or assign the debt while we are considering your application for assistance.
  • If you are facing hardship some of the steps we may take to help you include:
    • postponement of loan repayment
    • extending the period of the loan contract and reduce amount of each payment due
    • extend period of loan contract and postpone repayments
    • other short term changes to your bankng arrangements

In determining which of these options maybe suitable, we will take full account of your individual circumstances. We will also inform you of the detail of any deferred repayments obligations, including repayment amounts and timing.
