Suncorp Bank has today proven itself the genuine alternative to the big 4 and set a new challenge for Australia’s banks by winning Money magazine’s coveted Bank of the Year Award.
In a history-making feat, Suncorp Bank is the first non-major bank to receive the highly recognised consumer and industry title since the award’s inception in 2004.
Suncorp Bank CEO John Nesbitt said the win was testament to Suncorp Bank’s people and community connections, and he was proud to share the award with customers who have supported the Bank’s growth.
“Australia’s banking landscape is a competitive market, so to be recognised as the industry leader reaffirms Suncorp Bank’s position as the genuine alternative to the major banks,” Mr Nesbitt said.
“This award showcases the great things we are doing across our Bank, especially the success of our diverse product portfolio which is designed to provide our customers with banking solutions for each stage of their life.”

The Money magazine Bank of the Year title was awarded to the financial institution with the highest total score taken from six individual categories, including home lending, personal lending, transactional accounts, business banking, margin lending and credit cards.
Consumer satisfaction also contributed heavily (15 per cent) to the winner’s overall score, and Mr Nesbitt said this was particularly pleasing for a Bank committed to delivering a consistently good service to its customers.
“Our genuine connection with our customers is what really sets us apart from the big banks. This win recognises the high level of customer service displayed by our staff and broker partners across the country,” Mr Nesbitt said.

Each year, Money magazine partners with Canstar to evaluate more than 15,000 financial products and services from over 140 financial institutions for the Money magazine Consumer Finance Awards. The Bank of the Year Award is awarded to the financial institution deemed to be best in their field.
