The cricket season started early for some lucky Rockhampton yesterday, when they were greeted by former international sporting legends at Suncorp Bank’s Rockhampton North Branch, as part of the Bulls Masters Central Queensland Tour.
Queensland Bulls Masters, Jimmy Maher, Wayne Grady and Andrew Symonds transformed the Suncorp Bank branch into a sporting haven for cricket fans, signing merchandise and meeting members of the local community, before hosting a series of coaching clinics at the local cricket club.
Suncorp Bank’s Regional Manager for Central and South West Queensland, Craig Armstrong, said Suncorp Bank was proud to support the Bulls Masters Tour and provide the local community with the opportunity to meet some of the country’s premier athletes.
“Participation in sport is so important for young Queenslanders, and by supporting initiatives like the Bulls Masters Tour, we can highlight the benefits of being part of a team and inspire the next generation to live a healthy and active life,” Mr Armstrong said.
“Suncorp Bank has a long history of supporting organisations and events that contribute long lasting benefits to the regions in which it operates, and our partnership with Bull Masters reflects our ongoing commitment to Queensland communities.”
Members of the Frenchville Frogs Triathlon Club were the overall winners of the day, receiving a Suncorp Bank shade tent to be used at local events and sports carnivals.
The Bulls Masters Tour will travel to Gladstone tomorrow ahead of the Industries of Gladstone Cricket Challenge which will see businesses from Gladstone, Biloela and Rockhampton battle out alongside former Australian and Queensland cricketing greats, Andrew Symonds, Adam Dale and Greg Rowell, with proceeds going to the McGrath Foundation.
