What Happens After I Apply?

What happens once you've submitted your application? So that you know what to expect when you apply for a home loan with us, we've put together the steps we go through in processing your home loan, and some timeframes as to when you can expect to hear back from us.

  1. Once we receive your application and all required documentation, it will take up to three working days for a decision to be made. In this time, we will advise you if a valuation on the property is required. If a valuation is required, our decision may take a bit longer.
  2. On approval of your loan application, your loan documentation will be issued, and sent out to you.
  3. Once you receive your loan documentation, sign it, and return it to us. We need this signed documentation back so that we can finalise your loan processing/arrangements.
  4. 3 working days before settlement, you will need to advise us of the cheque details that you will need at settlement. This includes information such as the final amount, and payee that the cheques need to be made out to.

Before we can approve your home loan application, we will require some documentation from you. Depending on your circumstances, you may need to provide all or some of the items listed below. Your lender will advise on what will apply for your situation.

3 easy steps to applying for pre-approval

Discuss your home loan situation with us
  • Call us on 13 11 55, or book a meeting with a lender, and we can discuss your current situation. We'll talk about how much you want to borrow, how much you earn, and your current assets or liabilities. Based on your answers, we'll be able to give you an indication of how much you can borrow.
  • In some cases you may not require a formal pre-approval from the Bank and this 'informal' pre-approval may be all you need to get you looking. Talk to your lender about whether you actually need a formal pre-approval.
For a pre-approval certificate, send in your documentation
  • If you would like a formal pre-approval certificate, send us your documentation to confirm the details we've discussed with you. Use our handy checklist in the what you need tab to see what type of documentation you may be asked to send in.
Once we receive your documentation, we can send your home loan pre-approval certificate within 24 hours * (or the next working day
  • You can give the real estate agent a copy of this certificate when you put an offer on a place. It may give the seller peace of mind that you're serious about your offer.
